The Escapists combine the lush instrumentation of Hammond organ, pedal steel slide and fuzzed-out guitars with pulsating bass and drums under torch-song vocals to create cinematic, noir-tinged rock and moody soul. It’s quiet and mysterious but prone to violent outbursts.

The debut album, Slow Motion Avalanche, is the soundtrack for late-night drive out of the city after an evening of crime and deviance. It is a reflection on experience tainted by regret and a detached passion coupled with the fatalistic knowledge that at the end of the drive there will be consequences.
